How to get to Adelaide Gaol

The Gaol is located in the Adelaide park lands close to many historic and other places of interest such as Parliament House, Migration Museum, South Australian Museum, Art Gallery, Festival Theatre, the Central Market and central shopping areas. There is a frequent bus service from the city to the Gaol Road/Port Road intersection, from there it is a short walk from Bus Stop 1 to the Gaol.

Tours

A visit to Adelaide Gaol offers a chance to inspect the inside of a fascinating historical landmark and to view an array of artefacts dating back to the gaol's early years.

A tour gives an insight into the life and routine of a prisoner.

Self guided tours with audio are available on weekdays between 11am and 5.00pm and after 1pm Sundays (Self guided tours last entry 3.30pm).
No bookings are necessary. Tickets are available at the door.

Guided tours operate between 11am and 1pm on Sundays (subject to Guide availability).

School tours which are suitable for all ages and can be tailored to suit the year level are available by prior booking.

Group tours Weekday tours for schools and clubs are available by prior booking.
Groups can request morning or afternoon tea be served mid-tour for a small cost.

Do you believe in ghosts? A Ghost Tour by torchlight or lamplight will give you a fascinating insight into the numerous sightings of ghostly figures and movements around the gaol.
Ghost Tours are not suitable for under 15 year olds.

Night tours for a minimum of 15 people are available by prior booking.
